Development of symptoms like loss of consciousness, difficulty in walking, holding objects, numbness or tingling in the hands and feet, excessive sweating, changes in blood pressure, and inability to tolerate the heat are suggestive of nerve injury.
Classification of nerve injury are:
- Neuropraxia
- Axonotmesis
- Neurotmesis
Treatment for nerve injury comprises medications to relieve the pain, antidepressants, and anticonvulsants are given. It usually takes 6 to 12 months for a nerve to heal. Early diagnosis and appropriate treatment can prevent complications and permanent damage.
