Stroke Management

A stroke occurs when a blood vessel in the brain is blocked or ruptured, and the blood supply to the brain gets blocked. So the brain tissue does not get enough oxygen resulting in a stroke.
People suffering from stroke experience symptoms like trouble walking, speaking, paralysis, and or numbness of the face, arm, or leg. There are many types of strokes like hemorrhagic stroke, ischemic stroke, hemiplegic stroke, and heatstroke.
Management of hemorrhagic stroke includes transfusion of blood, surgical clipping, anticonvulsant medications, and osmotic diuretics. Management of ischemic stroke is done by antiplatelet medication, thrombolytic therapy, and an IV injection of TPA.
Heatstroke is a condition caused by an increase in the temperature of the body above 104 degrees Fahrenheit. It usually occurs due to over-exposure to the sun, and humid conditions. If the temperatures are not brought down soon then damage to the brain and nervous system can occur. Management of heatstroke involves reducing the temperature of the person by using a wet towel or wet sheet, using ice packs, and using evaporation cooling techniques. Effects of stroke include communication problems, tiredness, fatigue, emotional changes, and pain. Stroke affects not only the individual but also their family and it represents an important challenge for society. It could be any stroke but if there’s a problem we have a solution.
